Season 1 is the first season Guard Duty Classic, airing from January 5, 2012 until June 23, 2012. It was written and directed by Syp The Mighty, with Revoltge co-directing its finale.

The director's cut premiered on April 29, 2022, nearly ten years after it ended, which included the Sides episodes Question, Bagels, and Annoyances. When the series was rebooted in 2023, this season was reimagined as Season 1 with elements from Major Malfunction and WarGames with select cast members of this season returning in new roles.

Trivia

  • While Intro-Mind has a voice role in this season, he would not be cast as Geff until the original second season. Instead, he briefly voices Alana in The Transfer.
  • This season, and the Sides episodes that accompanied it, is the only Guard Duty season in which Intro-Mind, Ella Rhee, and Xanthe Folan do not voice Geff, Sarah, and Nicole respectively, due to not being cast at the time of its production.
  • Syp The Mighty largely made up the story as each episode was made.
  • This season's cliffhanger was planned to lead into a followup using the then-upcoming Halo 4 engine, though this never happened.
  • The episode Something is cropped to match the other episodes of this season for the movie edit.
  • Revoltge recorded Emery Eden's final line in the movie edit, replacing Syp's stand-in audio in the initial release of Infinity.
  • The unaltered version of Annoyances, as well as the Sides episodes Question and Bagels, was included in the movie edit.
