Ronin is an assassin who anonymously leaks information related to Trinity Advancements and SAFE to Pidge Emmel.

They were originally envisioned as a woman before being made non-binary during the writing process of Hack & Slash, for the pun "they slash them" coined by jaxbeetle.
They were first mentioned in the marketing for Rat's Nest, with the bounty placed by Trinity Advancements being addressed to them.
