Rat's Nest is an upcoming Halo-based machinima miniseries that serves as a prequel to Guard Duty. It will be directed by Syp The Mighty from a screenplay she wrote with Revoltge. This series will center on The Spartan just prior to his introduction in Season 1 during an encounter with the guards stationed on Outpost Rat's Nest.

It is planned to release sometime in 2025, with no specific date being given until production wraps.

Trivia

• The logo for this series was designed by Blankslate, who also voices Miller and Jace.
• This series was announced in Coming Soon, a fourth-wall breaking Sides episode produced upon the end of Classic Season 2. It was written shortly after Season 1 at the end of 2023 into early 2024. Its production was reaffirmed in Stay Tuned, another fourth-wall breaking Sides episode, where its logo was revealed as well as the involvement of animators EprothStudios and Sephtic returning from Season 1.
• Syp and Revoltge consider The Spartan, a recurring character throughout Season 1, to be the protagonist of this series.
• Taking the lessons learned from the production of Season 1, Syp intends for this series to be fully produced prior to airing for a weekly release schedule as well as having its soundtrack scored-to-picture in preparation for the upcoming second Guard Duty season.
