- The opening animation for this episode was made by jaxbeetle, who also designed the video thumbnail.
- Dina furiously shining her shoes is a reference to Diego Jones in Major Malfunction, who does the same thing in its first episode.
- Blankslate reprises his role as Jace from the opening flashback of Replacement, the fifth episode of Season 1, while jaxbeetle reprises their role as Dina from Discord Announcement!, an episode of Guard Duty Sides.
- jaxbeetle actually performed their lines as Dina for Rat's Nest prior to the production of Discord Announcement!, but that episode was released first after Rat's Nest was delayed.
- This episode takes place sometime before Trooper's appearance in Machine, with him mentioning it in the opening animation as well as him wearing black ODST armor than his usual teal and white Recon set.
