Events of WarGames

Immediately after switching seats with Collins, in the opening flashback of Ambush, O'Brien is shot in the head by a plasma blast. Later, in Deception, Spartan Louie Vargas and five repurposed protocol robots investigate the attack and discover O'Brien's dead body before Louie is shot and killed in a similar manner.

Trivia

  • His appearance in WarGames differs from his appearance in Major Malfunction, as in the latter he wears a Recon chest plate with Security shoulder pads and various different helmets while in the former he appears with the CQB chest plate and Mark VI shoulder pads. This is due to series creator Syp The Mighty wanting to make O'Brien's armor set consistent with other head guards shown in Guard Duty, such as Mitchell Miller and Rico Suave. Because of this, O'Brien retains the helmet he wore in the final episode of Major Malfunction, the CQB.
  • Syp had actually contacted Avcracy, O'Brien's voice actor from Major Malfunction II, to reprise the role for WarGames but never got a response. Instead, Blankslate_GG took over the role.
  • His first name is never stated in-series, with Syp coming up with it after the release of WarGames. During the production of the original Major Malfunction, its creators considered his full name to be Phillip O'Brian, with the spelling of his last name changing by the time WarGames was produced.
