Season 1 is the first installment in the relaunched Guard Duty series directed by Syp The Mighty from a screenplay she wrote with Revoltge, premiering on December 22, 2023. A reimagining of Classic Season 1 and Classic Season 2, this season is set on the uneventful Outpost Black Out and focuses on its crew of five dysfunctional soldiers.

  • This is the first production in which Syp and Revoltge co-wrote every episode together. As such, it is also the first production to credit both Syp and Revoltge as creators, rather than just Syp.
  • This is also the first season to feature Cole Vakassian serving as series composer, taking over from Syp and Revoltge.
  • During development, this season was referred to as Guard Duty Anniversary, in reference to the remakes of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo, both subtitled Aniversary.
  • After the first half premiered, the second half of this season was delayed due to Syp taking the time to learn her new editing program.
