Trivia

  • The entire cast of Classic Season 2 reprise their roles, now joined by Blankslate as Miller, while Classic Season 1 cast members Winter and Firesinopa return in new roles.
  • This is the first production in which Syp The Mighty and Revoltge co-wrote every episode together. As such, both Syp and Revoltge are credited as creators.
  • This is also the first season to feature Cole Vakassian serving as series composer, taking over from Syp and Revoltge.
  • This season was predominantly written in late 2023, with subsequent additions added while filming throughout 2024.
  • During development, this season was referred to as Guard Duty Anniversary, in reference to the remakes of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, both subtitled Anniversary.
  • After the first five episodes were released, the remainder of this season was delayed due to Syp having to reinstall her computer's operating system which led to her losing her original editing software. As a result, she took the time to learn Adobe Premiere Pro for Machine and Replacement before placing the series on an unplanned hiatus due to the complicated nature of subsequent episodes.
    • The delay also gave time for composer Cole Vakassian to compose additional tracks for the season, including rearrangements of the tunes composed by Revoltge and Syp for Classic Season 2.
  • In the original airing of this season, Syp The Mighty provided the voice of Miller in its first four episodes as well as Forge and Corvus. For the season's director's cut re-release, Blankslate (voice of Miller since Replacement) re-dubbed Miller's initial appearances while Syp would cast JaxBeetle as Forge and Natasha as Corvus.
  • Syp's influences for this season include the animated series Archer and Harley Quinn, sitcoms Parks & Recreation and Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and the 2021 film The Suicide Squad. Revoltge's influences include animated series such as RWBY, Legend of Vox Machina, and Archer.
  • When first announced in Coming Soon, Syp stated this season and its Classic counterpart would be "simultaneously canon". However, this is proven untrue in the actual season as it actively contradicts that season as well as WarGames and Classic Season 2. Instead, Season 1 acts as a reset to the series continuity as a fresh start that combines elements of the entire Classic era as a singular narrative.

Director's Cut changes

  • The title of this season is referred to as Season One with "One" spelled out phonetically rather than numerical.
  • Forge and Corvus were both re-dubbed from Syp The Mighty's original portrayals in Invader and Retrograde, with Jax Beetle and Natasha taking over the roles for the director's cut.
  • Miller's appearances in Wish, HQ, Fax, and Machine were re-dubbed by Blankslate for the director's cut.
  • The entirety of Wish as well as portions of HQ, Fax, and Machine were refilmed, mostly to accommodate Miller's re-dubbed audio in the director's cut as well as to add smoother transitions between episodes.
  • Select shots of Emery on Outpost High Ground during Retrograde were re-filmed to give him the backpack he wore in Machine to signify it as how he transports the stolen fuel.
  • The mid-credits scene from Retrograde was expanded with an opening revealing the fates of Dino Jones, Rico Suave, and Percy O'Hara, with Dino's voice actor HegelBagel performing new lines, along with name-dropping Denise Rocko just prior to her exchange with the Brigadier and an added establishing shot revealing the body of Alana Reynolds to be what Brigadier and Valentine had been observing. The visual effects for Valentine's appearance were also updated to give her a more holographic appearance.
  • A new post-credits scene featuring Molotov and Cocktail discovering Robot on Outpost Black Out was added to the director's cut, after originally being scrapped from the original release of Retrograde.
