Private First Class Sarah Daws is a soldier stationed on Outpost Black Out as its engineer, voiced by Ella Rhee.

Personality

Sarah is an awkward, yet somehow also confident woman who thinks of herself as very intelligent, mostly thanks to her status as an engineer as well as her wealthier upbringing. Despite this, she's not very good with vehicles. She doesn't get along with her boss Miller and has a one-sided dislike for Geff, but she has been shown to be cordial with June and Nicole, mostly the latter whom she is heavily implied to have romantic feelings for, hinted at in Fax.

Role in Plot

Events of Season 1

Due to not having the right parts to fix Miller's mongoose in Wish, Sarah is berated by her captain, Mitchell Miller. After a back and forth, also joined by her coworker and best friend Nicole Vega, Sarah goes on her break due to frustration. Later, in HQ, Sarah excitedly tells Nicole's sister and coworker June Vega that she convinced Nicole to watch the Lord of the Rings film series with her as they all three discuss it. This conversation is interrupted by Geff Rodrigo, another coworker whom she dislikes, asking if any of the three women wanted to join him take inventory. After Nicole rudely rejects Geff, Sarah agrees with her that Geff should stop pushing his interests. This causes a now-hysterical Geff to run off crying.

Sarah with Nicole during Replacement

Sometime after that, in Fax, Sarah attempts to receive a fax from HQ while chatting with Nicole until the machine breaks. When Miller enters and demands to know where the fax is, Sarah quietly storms off as Nicole follows. Sarah then encounters Geff trying to call HQ, kicking him off and making a call herself. When Nicole finally catches up, Sarah makes the call and is answered by an automated system operator informing her that a repair robot will be dispatched to Outpost Black Out the following day. Despite Nicole insisting it's too good to be true, Sarah takes the win and mentions having a headache. When Nicole complains about having to talk to someone else, Sarah offers her to join her but quickly interrupts herself and runs off, much to Nicole's confusion.

The next day, in Machine, the robot arrives much to Geff's surprise and Miller's chagrin due to the crate it arrived in crushing his newly-fixed mongoose. Sarah then arrives to reveal she ordered for the robot, though Miller is dismissive of this and discounts the robot as a "bucket of bolts." Because of this comment, the robot malfunctions and attacks Miller as Sarah and Geff watch. After Sarah asks if they should do anything about it, Geff calls out for Nicole to save Miller. When Nicole arrives and successfully deactivates the robot, Sarah comments on how strong Nicole is in awe. Shortly after, in Replacement, Sarah reminisces about Jace Casper's transfer with Nicole and June to Geff before Miller enters to chastise them. Sarah encourages Nicole's insults toward Miller and then asks Miller what he's done for humanity lately after he mentions his participation in "the Invasion War". Miller then storms off, much to Sarah's delight.

In Dysfunction, Sarah attempts to explain her favorite book series Warrior Cats to Nicole before ultimately suggesting they start a book club. Just as Nicole agrees, Geff arrives to inform the pair that June's helmet has malfunctioned and that he needs Sarah's help to fix it. Sarah proudly accepts and the two head to June, leaving behind a disgruntled Nicole. When Sarah and Geff find June, Sarah examines June's helmet before ultimately saying she can't fix it and will have to call HQ to order her a replacement. Sarah then goes to the computer room to contact HQ as a confused Geff follows, but she shuts him down as she makes the call. After a frustrating back and forth with one of their operators, a disgruntled Sarah growls in frustration before Nicole enters to ask her what's wrong. Sarah proceeds to beg her to speak with HQ instead and offers to clean their room in exchange for it, to which Nicole agrees. The call ultimately goes nowhere, with Nicole being hung up on by Dick Bosko after having spoken to Felicity Benes and the System Operator. This leads Sarah to think of an alternative in the base, in which Geff asks if she needs help with. Sarah shuts this idea down, claiming Nicole was already helping her when a confused Nicole agrees. After Geff pleads with her to let him help, Sarah tasks Geff with watching June and making sure she doesn't fall off the planet before walking off with Nicole.

Immediately after, during Invader, Sarah and Nicole seek out the deactivated robot to take its helmet for June. After finding it, Sarah struggles as she tries taking off its helmet before Nicole offers to do it for her. After observing Nicole do so, and getting her to rotate the robot's head simply by referring to her strength, Sarah and Nicole attempts to find June before hearing Miller call a team meeting over the intercom. Arriving at the meeting, Sarah gleefully gives June the robot's helmet to June's disinterest. After Miller and June argue for a moment, Miller demands Nicole, Sarah, or Geff to call HQ to report the incident. When Nicole refuses and Geff declines, Sarah offers to do so and her call is answered by Ignacio Dominguez. When Sarah reports the alarm, Ignacio is quick to dismiss it as a system glitch and says it will be fixed before hanging up on her. As a result, Miller dismisses the meeting. Later, in Stashed, Sarah and Nicole observe Miller's large pile of bagels in his room. After the pair banter with one another, Sarah and Nicole are met with an annoyed Miller who demands to know what they're doing in his room before accusing them of eating one of his bagels. Both Sarah and Nicole dismiss the notion, with Sarah claiming Miller keeps them to talk to since no one else will talk to him as she and Nicole walk away from him.

While on guard with Nicole, in Overture, Sarah acts defensive over never having Mexican food nor ever eating from a food truck to Nicole's shock and horror. When Sarah points out she ate food personally prepared for her by the "finest" chefs under her mother's employ, Nicole asks her if she's rich to which Sarah dismisses in a way that indicates she comes from a wealthy family. When Miller calls for a meeting over the outpost's intercom, Sarah attends to find out that Geff had signed herself and the rest of the guards to join the UNSC's "SPARTAN-IV Program", much to her confusion and annoyance. When June and Nicole both storm off at the news of their impending reassignment, Sarah simply follows out of awkwardness at being left with Geff and Miller.

Classic

Sarah's role in Classic
Sarah during the opening flashback of Truth

Like the other guards of Outpost Black Out, Sarah had been stationed there for years prior to Talking, as shown in the flashback sequence of Truth.

In Something, Sarah is mentioned by Miller as being tasked to receive faxed papers from ONI. She attempts to fix a mongoose under the guidance of Miller in The Point, where the two squabble over Sarah's ineffectiveness at vehicle repair despite being an engineer. Later, in The Transfer, her coworker Geff convinces her and Miller to join the Spartan IV Program with him. Sarah attempted to bring a large crate of items with her, but they were ultimately left behind. In Infinity, Sarah and the other guards are flown to Cold Storage by Emery posing as an official UNSC pilot.

Sarah during Truth

While stranded on Cold Storage during Trapped!, Sarah attempted to break her coworker Nicole out of the Flood containment center within the facility. Even with Geff's help, it was to no avail and she had given up to attend an all-hands meeting called by Miller during Paranoia. She and June would then be sent to go patrol outside of the facility, which led them to encounter a silent Emery who threatened to shoot them before ultimately deciding against it. Afterward, when Sarah and June returned to Miller and Geff in Reactionary, Nicole broke out of the containment center and insulted the guards for their ineffectiveness at helping her. Sarah then attempted to diffuse the situation by telling Nicole how she cleaned and organized their shared room. Miller then commanded everyone to look for Emery outside, and encountered him shortly after in Truth. Sarah was left flabbergasted when Emery explained he was seeking out Geff after incapacitating Miller.

Moments later in Dare, Emery is shot at by unknown attackers. Fearful for their own lives, Sarah and Nicole run toward cover behind a crate while June runs off somewhere else. In a rush, Nicole comes up with a plan to steal Emery's pelican and Sarah agrees to go along with it. Running past a distracted Emery, Sarah and Nicole board his pelican and fly off much to his anger. Piloted by Nicole, the duo eventually crash landed on an unknown planet. Nicole agrees to go exploring with Sarah after the realization it was alien in nature.

Relationships

Nicole

Sarah and Nicole get along really well, even if Sarah isn't as fond of Nicole's interests as she is. Regardless, they stick together as shown when Nicole follows Sarah upon the latter storming off from Miller in Wish. In HQ it's revealed that Sarah and Nicole watched the Lord of the Rings films alone together, showing their friendship. Sarah encourages much of Nicole's more rude tendencies, like when Nicole insults Miller or Geff in various episodes. During Fax, Sarah slips up on potential romantic feelings for Nicole when she offers her to nap together before swiftly taking it back and running out of the computer room to Nicole's confusion. Later, in Machine, Sarah comments on Nicole's strength after she successfully deactivates Robot to save Miller. During Dysfunction, Sarah successfully convinces Nicole to start reading her favorite book series Warrior Cats before they're interrupted by Geff asking for Sarah's help in fixing June's helmet. Later in the same episode, when Sarah attempts to call HQ to request a replacement helmet for June in the computer room, she gets frustrated with the operator she's speaking to before Nicole enters inquiring if she's alright after hearing Sarah's angered sigh "from across the base". Sarah then begs Nicole to takeover the call for her in exchange for cleaning their shared bedroom, though Nicole's experience didn't fair better before the call ended in nothing. This leads Sarah to suggest looking around the base for ways to fix June's helmet instead, volunteering Nicole to join her to avoid Geff joining her to do so.

During Invader, Sarah comes up with the idea to retrieve Robot's helmet in the generator room in the outpost's lower levels to give to June. When Sarah struggles to take it off, she realizes that she can get Nicole to help her with physical tasks by simply stroking her ego after downplaying her own strength to which Nicole offered to do it herself. In the same episode, after the outpost's alarms go off to signify an intruder entering the premises, Sarah joins Nicole in blaming Geff as being the one to miss said intruder due to claiming he was downstairs rather than themselves to which Miller ends up believing when June also backs their lie. Later, in Stashed, Sarah eagerly grabs Nicole and takes her to see Miller's secret bagel stash to the latter's surprise. Both react harshly to Miller when he enters his own room and sees them, though Miller offers no answers to Sarah question about why he has it. Sarah then laughs with Nicole as they exit the room. Sometime after, in Overture, Sarah and Nicole discuss their eating habits to which Nicole reacts negatively to Sarah's revelation that she's never had Mexican food before. When Sarah defends herself by claiming she had her meals cooked by "the finest chefs" under her mother's employ, Nicole questions if she's rich to which Sarah denies by claiming she comes from a "family of means". Nicole doubts this, but Miller calls a meeting to reveal the outpost's incoming reassignment before they could continue their conversation.

In Retrograde, after spending the past night locked in her room doing research on the computer into the SAFE Program as well as the supposed SPARTAN-IV Program they're all being reassigned to. When she realizes the program Sarah seeks out Nicole so she could be the first person she tells about what she's learned from doing research on their room's computer.

June

Sarah gets along with June, excitedly telling her about her and Nicole's watch of Lord of the Rings with June having already seen it. Sarah also leaps at the opportunity to help June fix her helmet, albeit unsuccessfully, in Dysfunction. During Invader, Sarah and Nicole take the helmet from Robot to give to June as a replacement to which Sarah ecstatically tells her about during a meeting called by Miller.

Miller

Sarah dislikes Miller, primarily due to him insulting her intelligence purely because she's a woman.

Geff

Sarah is not a fan of Geff, and sees him as undermining her in Wish. She also doesn't respect his interests, as she tells him in HQ.
